Meet Awon Golding - Lock & Co. Head Millinery Designer

But first, what is a milliner?

A milliner is a designer and maker of hats, particularly those worn by women. At Lock & Co., millinery is a craft rooted in heritage and innovation, combining traditional techniques with bold, contemporary design. From elegant occasion hats to fashion forward headpieces, our milliners handcraft each creation with exceptional attention to detail and style.

At Lock & Co. we are delighted to introduce you to Awon Golding, our Head Millinery Designer for our Couture collections.

Awon brings a wealth of experience in the millinery industry with her creative talent and has been recognised by the British Fashion Council when she was invited to showcase at London Fashion Week. She counts The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, Lady Gaga and Kylie Minogue amongst her clients, and is known for her unique and beautiful headpieces and hats that are modern and inspired by catwalk trends.

What defines Awon's modern take on millinery?

Awon draws on her multicultural heritage and experience of living in a variety of different countries to design dynamic headpieces. Working with bold shapes to create dramatic silhouettes, each piece is handcrafted in-store, incorporating traditional and unconventional materials and techniques.

From back when Awon was first appointed as our Head Millinery Designer:
"It is an absolute honour to be heading up the millinery department at Lock & Co. Hatters. The brand is an incredible British heritage brand synonymous with quality and craftsmanship and I'm looking forward to applying my creative talents to the seasonal range. I have reached back into the archives and breathed new life into classic Lock & Co. shapes, whilst also adding my own modern aesthetic to the collection. It's a special privilege to be part of the Lock & Co. story."
