The Fez: an iconic Turkish hat style still crafted in the traditional way from rabbit fur felt.

This simple and distinctive Turkish Fez features a cylindrical design with a flat crown. It's most recognisable feature, the tassel, often hangs freely from the crown. The history of the Fez dates back through the Ottoman Empire to 17th century Morocco. Traditionally, this was one of the few hat styles worn indoors, more particularly by the upper-class at dinner. Today, the Fez is worn as a differentiating statement style for formal occasions, including black tie events.

Care

Steam from a household kettle and a hard bristle hat brush will help remove dust and dirt. Brush the hat using short strokes, following the natural direction of the fibre.

The Fez should be kept away from direct heat. Wet hats should be dried using a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge.

Felt hats are best stored in a hat box, away from direct sunlight.

Materials

Our Fez is crafted from rich pillar-box red rabbit felt and is finished with a black tassel. It has an internal leather sweatband and is fully lined.

Styling & Fitting

The Fez comes with a complimentary Lock & Co. white hat box.
