The best of the best. For our ultra-discerning customer, Lock & Co.’s bespoke Panama hat is the ultimate in luxury. We can tailor it to your specific requirements – whether it needs be rolled for easy packing, have a slightly wider brim or a classic crown.
Hand-woven in Montecristi, Ecuador, by craftsmen and craftswomen, using skills passed down for generations, this hat is the result of months of precision weaving. The weavers of the finest toquila-palm straw work at night and in the earliest hours of the morning, when the temperature is cooler and the humidity at its highest, starting at the apex of the crown. The finished plaited, smooth and supple material has the softness of silk.
The Bespoke ultra-fine Superfino Montecristi Panama hat can take up to 9 months to create. You can count on one hand the number of weavers able to produce such an intricate finish, and we work closely with the craftspeople to ensure these skills are passed on to the next generation of weavers.
We would be delighted to discuss your requirements for your special hat. Made to order. For enquiries please contact us
Steam from a household kettle and use a hard bristle hat brush to gently brush of dust and dirt. Alternatively, use clean pencil rubber to remove small marks.
Avoid wearing a Montecristi Panama in the rain. If it gets wet, dry using a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge. Montecristi Panamas hats are best stored in a hat box, away from direct sunlight.
