    OUR RESPONSIBILITY MISSION

    Lock & Co. Hatters is on a journey to understand and manage our social and environmental responsibilities. We have set objectives and targets for improving our social and environmental performance and have dedicated resources to help us reach our social and environmental goals.

    Every action, no matter how small, is being taken with sustainability in mind. We will improve one small step at a time. Whether it is reducing plastic usage, reducing waste or lowering our carbon footprint, we are committed to recording where we are now and measuring each improvement, no matter how modest. This will be an ongoing process involving the contributions and ideas of all members of our team.

    LOCK & CO IS A SMALL FAMILY BUSINESS, AND ONE WITH A GREAT SENSE OF SICIAL RESPONSIBILITY. WE ARE THE OLDEST SHOP IN LONDON. AND FOR 347 YEARS WE HAVE TRIED TO LOOK AFTER OUR EMPLOYEES AND OUR CUSTOMERS REALLY WELL. IT MATTERS TO EACH OF US HERE TO "DO THE RIGHT THING"

    PROJECT FRESH

    The business is working towards eliminating single-use plastic and seeking alternatives and is working with key stakeholders to eliminate single-use plastic. For example:

    • All our caps our now supplied with a canvas cap bag.
    • We offer either a card and paper hat box or a re-cycled cotton bag with all of our hats.
    • We are now using compostable paper cups.
    • We are now using a paper-based packing tape for all our parcels in our e-commerce department.
    • We work with First Mile which is a company that specialies in re-cycling waste and monitors our level of recyclable waste.

    All our employees are aware of and know our social and environmental commitments, and in 2022 we launched our sustainability project - Project FRESH. This project means that the company has a system that guides us to take incremental steps to ensure that everything we do is FAIR, RESPONSIBLE, ETHICAL, SUSTAINABLE and HONEST. There are employees at all levels and in all areas of Lock & Co. who have volunteered to be our Sustainability Champions along this journey. Project FRESH will enable us to take incremental steps internally and in collaboration with our suppliers to achieve our sustainability goals.

    CHARITABLE SUPPORT

    Lock & Co. is a small family business, and one with a great sense of social responsibility. We are the oldest shop in London, and for 347 years we have tried to look after our employees and our customers really well. It matters to each of us here to ‘do the right thing’, so each year Lock & Co. makes a number of donations to charities that are close to our hearts.
