The Fairbanks trilby is one of our signature autumn/winter styles, named after US actor Douglas Fairbanks Junior, who used to live above No. 6.

This well-proportioned hat—the brim is not too wide, and the crown is not too high—will fit almost everyone & looks good on men and women.

The Fairbanks black trilby is the latest addition to our popular and bestselling Fairbanks Collection. Crafted from 100% beaver felt, the hat is soft and smooth to the touch. The shape of this hat is familiar and yet is neither a fedora nor a trilby in the classic style as it sports a trilby standard brim but with the crown tapered more to the head. The hat is embellished with a grosgrain band and bow and a leather internal sweatband. The style bears all the hallmarks of Lock & Co. Hatters; quality, style, longevity, and craftsmanship.

Care

Steam from a household kettle and a hard bristle hat brush will help remove dust and dirt. Brush the hat using short strokes, following the natural direction of the fibre.

Wet hats should be dried using a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge. Do not place a felt hat on a radiator as the heat will shrink the fibres and cause your hat to decrease in size.

Felt hats are best stored in a hat box, away from direct sunlight.

Materials

Crafted from 100% beaver felt, the hat is fully lined and comes with a smart grosgrain ribbon and bow and a leather internal sweatband.

Styling & Fitting

The trilby's soft brim allows for a variety of styling options, including completely angled down, turned up, or, most commonly, up in the back and down in the front, creating the elegant and time-honoured "wave" shape.
