GUIDE TO Panamas, Straw and Sun Hats for Women

GUIDE TO Panamas, Straw and Sun Hats for Women

Our Panama hats are handwoven by Ecuadorian artisans using traditional techniques handed down through generations. Our Panama hats have all of Lock & Co.'s distinguishing characteristics, including quality, longevity, and craftsmanship.

Take good care of your panama.
To avoid distorting the crown of your Panama hat, always handle it by the brim. Avoid wearing a Panama in the rain. Dry with a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge if it gets wet. Panama hats should be stored in a hat box, out of direct sunlight.

FAQs

Am I able to ask to have the leather sweatband of my Panama monogrammed with my initials?

Yes. We can use our monogramming machine to personalise your Panama's leather sweatband with up to four letters. However, doing so will make your Panama non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

Where in the world do Panamas actually come from?

Our Panamas are handmade by artisans using generations-old techniques in Ecuador. Each one is unique and some even have cigar stamps to signify the weaver's seal of approval.

Montecristi produces the finest Panamas. They can take up to six months to weave with extremely thinly split palm fibres to achieve the silky texture and extreme lightweight that they boast. Our Montecristi Panamas are priced according to the level of craftmanship involved in their making.

How to wear a Panama hat?

The Panama hat should sit comfortably on your head without needing too much pressure. Wear your Panama flat on your head for a classic look, or at an angle for a more jaunty look.

How should I handle a Panama?

Panamas must always be handled by the brim and not by the crown. Handling a Panama by the crown will cause the material to irreversibly split.
