GUIDE TO Women's Fedoras, Trilbies & Cloches

GUIDE TO Women's Fedoras, Trilbies & Cloches

A fedora is a hat designed with a shallow indented crown and a pinch near the front. Additionally, it has a brim that is round and typically wider than a trilby hat. This timeless hat is traditionally worn forward on the head to shield the wearer’s eyes from the sun.

Fedora hat fitting:
If you don't already know your head size, wrap a soft tape measure around your head, 2 cm above the ears, around the widest part of the back of your head, and across the middle of your forehead. The size of the fedora you require will be determined by the measurement taken (whether in centimetres or inches).  A well-fitting fedora will not drop onto your ears and will sit comfortably above your brow without leaving a mark or feeling tight on your head.

Care:
Felt hats are best stored in a hat box away from direct sun light.

FAQs

Are customers able to request getting their initials monogrammed onto their leather sweatbands?

Yes. We offer a monogramming service for up to four initials on leather sweatbands, but doing so would mean the hat was non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

How to wear a fedora hat?

The fedora's soft brim allows for a variety of styling options, including wearing it with the brim completely angled down, turned up, or, most commonly, up in the back and down in the front, creating the elegant and time-honored 'wave' shape.

How should a fedora fit?

A correctly sized fedora will not fall onto your ears and will sit comfortably above your brow without leaving a mark or feeling too tight on your head.

What is a snap brim?

A fedora, also known as a snap-brim hat, is a hat with a shallow indented crown and a pinch near the front. It also has a wider round brim than the narrower-brimmed trilby hat.

What is the correct way to style your brim?

The classic way to style your brim is flipped down at the front, and curled up at the back. However, all of our brimmed felt hats can be worn with their brims turned up or down, back and front. Hats can also be worn on the back of the head, but make sure to go down a size if you wish to do so.

What is the best way to store my fedora/homburg?

You should make sure to store a felt hat in a hat box, away from direct sunlight.
