Men’s Panamas, boaters & straw hats

A Lock & Co. Panama has become synonymous with a gentleman’s summer sartorial style. Repeatedly hailed as one of the finest pieces a man can own by both customers and the press, a Lock Panama is both supremely practical and dapper.

Hand-woven in Ecuador by by craftspeople, using skills passed down for generations. So unique some are finished with a genuine cigar stamp (the weaver’s seal of approval), each Panama is then trimmed with a bull’s leather sweatband and signature ribbon trim. We offer a range of bleached and coloured Panamas in a variety of brim and crown shapes, catering for all face shapes.

The finest Panamas are made in the village of Montecristi and take longer to weave than our Classic Panamas – up to six months. The palm fibres are split razor-thin to ensure a silky texture and feather-light weight. Due to the craftsmanship involved in making a Montecristi Panama, prices are much higher.

Boaters are most associated with the quintessentially British summertime rowing event, Henley Royal Regatta, as well as being worn by pupils at private schools since Victorian times. However, in recent years a boater is a sartorially elegant choice for those seeking a more striking summer silhouette.
